Dubai has just completed its first green hydrogen project at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the biggest solar facility in UAE.
The project has been developed by joint efforts between DEWA, Expo 2020 Dubai and Siemens Energy to produce hydrogen using renewable energy and how to store it and re-electrify the clean fuel.
The plant was built with the concept of testing future applications and development for industrial and mobility uses.
The project is in line with the UAE vision and goal to cut carbon emission by 25% in 2025. If the project is successful would allow to implement zero-emission and hydrogen-powered transportation vehicles.
It is an important milestone that UAE has achieved in occasion of Expo 2020 Dubai, as one of the main themes covered during the exhibition will be sustainability on how to create new innovative techniques and projects to reduce climate change derived by human consumption and industrial pollution.
Given the huge potential, the UAE is planning to become a key producer and exporter of green hydrogen, a market that is currently growing at a fast pace and will be gradually an important source to produce clean energy.
