Dubai free zones. Dubai was the first emirate to pioneer the free zone model, offering foreign businesses attractive concessions and a number of investment incentives.

Free Zones are special economic zones set up with the objective of offering tax free, and free customs duty benefits to expatriate investors. Free Zones in Dubai and the UAE are governed pursuant to a special framework of rules and regulations applicable to concerned free zone.

Dubai free zones: a company set up in a Free Zone offers benefits to owners

  • 100% foreign ownership of the enterprise (A single individual is required for setting up, no sponsor required)
  • 100% import and export Tax exemptions
  • 100% repatriation of capital and profits
  • No corporate taxes for 15 years, and can be renewed for an additional 15 years
  • No personal income taxes
  • Less documentation, mostly in English
  • Assistance with labour recruitment, and additional support services such as sponsorship and housing
  • Owning properties is allowed (25 years lease options, warehouse facilities, availability of areas for production and assembling etc.)

Dubai free zones: free zones under establishment

A Free Zone Authority offers business licenses to foreign-owned businesses.

Each Free Zone is designed around one or more business industry categories and only offers licenses, to companies within those categories. Most of the free zones in Dubai broadly offer trading, service, industrial, national industrial and branch licenses to investors looking to set up their businesses.

 

Dubai free zones: individual applicants

  1. Application form of Respective Free Zone & Proof of Trade Name & Reservation.
  2. Passport copy and or Emirates Id copy of proposed shareholders [in some cases,
  3. CVs of Shareholders may be requested.
  4. Passport copy and or E. ID copy of proposed Manager.
  5. Business Plan – to include brief summary, financial projections, Background of Shareholders & Manager
  6. No objection Certificate from sponsor [if Manager is already sponsored by Employer or Husband.
  7. Power of Attorney in favour of Manager or representative who will handle formation process.
  8. Specimen signature on Free Zone’s Authorization Card

 

Dubai free zones: branch of foreign companies

  1. Application form of Respective Free Zone & Proof of Trade Name & Reservation.
  2. Passport copy and or Emirates Id copy of proposed shareholders [in some cases,
  3. CVs of Shareholders may be requested.
  4. Passport copy and or E. ID copy of proposed Manager.
  5. Business Plan – to include brief summary, financial projections, Background of Shareholders & Manager
  6. No objection Certificate from sponsor [if Manager is already sponsored by Employer or Husband.
  7. Power of Attorney in favour of Manager or representative who will handle formation process.
  8. Certificate of Registration for Parent Company. To be notarized/Legalized before UAE
  9. Embassy in the Country where parent entity is duly constituted.
  10. Memorandum / Articles of Association of Parent company [Notarized/Attested]
  11. Specimen Signature on form
